The Fantasy NASCAR Low Tier – Pocono
Ross Chastain – At Pocono, Chastain has three races under his belt and in his two incident free races his average finish is 26th. Earlier this year, Chastain had his best Pocono performance. He finished 24th and had a 27th place average running position. Last summer, he finished 35th, but he had some sort of issue that caused him to finish 18 laps down. Last spring, in his track debut he started 31st, had a 30th place average running position and finished 28th.
Matt Tifft – Matt Tifft didn’t have a smooth debut at Pocono this spring and he finished an asterisk mark 33rd. He spun on lap 61 while running in 27th (didn’t hit anything), and then later with 53 laps to go he had some sort of issue under his hood which sent him to the garage area. On Sunday, I would look for Tifft to be a mid to high-twenties driver.
Landon Cassill – At Pocono, look for Landon Cassill to be a high-twenties to low-thirties driver. Over the last five Pocono races he’s finished between 27th to 34th. Over those combined races he has a 30.4 average finish and a 31.2 average running position. This spring, Cassill started 31st and finished 31st. In 2018 he had results of 31st and 34th.
Corey LaJoie – Corey LaJoie has four starts on his resume at Pocono and his average finish is 32.0. The last two races at “The Tricky Triangle” have been treacherous for him and he currently has back to back DNF’s because of accidents. This spring he had a short race and wrecked which led to a 36th place finish. On lap 68 he got into the wall and that marked the end of his race. Just prior to his demise he was running around 28th. Last summer, LaJoie crashed and finished 39th. Prior to his problem he was running around 30th. I’ll note that was his only Pocono race in 2018. In 2017, LaJoie had results of 25th and 28th at the “Tricky Triangle.”
