Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Pocono
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson was very competitive this spring at Pocono, but he finished a misleading 23rd. With 9 laps to go during a restart while he was running in the top five he got into the wall and that led to his misleading result. From the race I’ll note he won Stage #1, won Stage #2 and led 35 laps.
Kevin Harvick – Pocono has been a great track for Kevin Harvick and in 4 of the last 5 races he’s finished between 2nd to 4th. Unfortunately, this spring he didn’t have an incident free race and he finished a misleading 22nd. During a late pit stop with 36 laps to go while he was running in 2nd his team had an uncontrolled tire which resulted in a penalty. Also right around that time he had a cracked steering box. If his race would’ve been incident free, I think he was clearly top five good.
Jimmie Johnson – Jimmie Johnson has had quite a bit of tough luck in recent Pocono races. In 6 of the last 7 races at the “Tricky Triangle” he’s finished outside the top 15. Earlier this year he finished a misleading 19th. He was poised to finish in the low double-digits, but he pitted during a late caution which was the wrong decision. Johnson’s average running position for the afternoon was 11th.
