Denny Hamlin who started in 4th jumped to the lead in turn #3 and he led the opening 3 laps.
Clint Bowyer got off to a rough start. 3 laps into the race he was back 8 positions from where he started.
On lap 4, Joey Logano passed Denny Hamlin for the lead. He then led the next 50 laps.

Notable Moment: During the competition caution on pit road, Jimmie Johnson had contact with another car and damaged his cars nose (hit the #95 exiting his pit box). He had a notable amount of damage. Just prior to his problem he was running in the mid-teens.

Notable Moment: On lap 53, Kevin Harvick came to pit road. He was running in 10th place prior to pitting. He had a loose wheel. This dropped him off the lead lap.

During the Stage caution in an interview, Erik Jones said his car was running better but he wish he had a little more speed. He finished 3rd in Stage #1.
Matt Tifft was caught speeding during the competition caution.

Notable Moment: On lap 70, Kyle Weatherman hit the wall hard and his spoiler was now flapping.
Kevin Harvick got back on the lead lap during the Kyle Weatherman caution.
During the Weatherman caution there was mixed pit strategy with 9 drivers electing not to pit.
During the Weatherman caution, Jimmie Johnson’s team spent time doing some repairs to his car.

On lap 95, the back of Alex Bowman’s car was damaged. Chase Elliott got into the back of him. He was in 9th at the time. This impacted his handling.

Late in Stage #2 around lap 113, quite a few drivers came to pit road. These were the drivers who didn’t pit during the Kyle Weatherman caution (Logano, Larson, Keselowski, Blaney and a couple of others).
Notable Moment: Brad Keselowski got a safety violation during his pit stop late in Stage #2 and had to do a pass and go penalty. He was in 3rd prior to pitting.

Notable Moment: During the Stage #2 caution, Aric Almirola drove thru too many pit stalls which dropped him to the back of the pack. He just finished 5th in Stage #2.
