Michigan NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
NOTE: This practice session was all about drivers getting their cars ready for qualifying. It appears nobody spent any time in race trim.
Austin Dillon – His car had pretty good speed in qualifying trim. With ten minutes remaining he was 2nd on the speed chart. In the closing minutes of practice he jumped to the top of the speed chart. He said his car was a little free in an interview.
Brad Keselowski – His opening run in qualifying trim put him at the top of the speed chart. Both his first and second runs were exceptionally quick. Steve Letarte said it was breathtaking how quick he was.
Joey Logano – He had a loose moment during his first run in qualifying trim. His second run jumped him to 2nd on the speed chart. With 5 minutes remaining he said, “Way better, way better.” At that time while he was 8th he also added that his car has gone from 80-percent through the corners to completely smooth.
Daniel Hemric – Following his opening run which put him 2nd ten minutes into practice it was reported he was on the splitter just a little bit. During a later run his car was scrapping on the track a good bit.
Bubba Wallace – Following his first run in qualifying trim which put him 17th of 18 cars he said, “Just need a little more lateral grip.”
