Las Vegas NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes
Joey Logano – He showed a lot of speed at the start of practice and his opening run put him at the top of the speed chart. 20 minutes into practice he had the 3rd best ten lap average. In clean air he could run wide open, in dirty air he couldn’t. He said he has a pretty good car in an interview. He had the 3rd best 10 lap average.
Kurt Busch – Early in practice he wasn’t happy with his car. His car was very loose. He said his car was so far out of the box he didn’t know how to help his team. Later he said he was OK in 1 and 2, but he was terrible in turns 3 and 4. In the closing minutes of practice, Kurt Busch jumped to the top of the speed chart. That was during a qualifying run.
William Byron – 10 minutes into practice while he was 13th he said the nose of his car is “really darty.” Midway through practice while he was 13th he said, “Good in 1 & 2, still loose in 3 & 4.”
Ryan Newman – He did a 22 lap run that put him 8th. Newman seems to like his car this weekend. Steve Letarte liked his car.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – He started with a 20 lap run that put him 15th. 30 minutes into practice while he was still 15th he said he’s lacking rear grip and front turn.
