Richmond NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes
Denny Hamlin – His car looked really good running at the bottom of the track. He was really good in the middle of a corner. 15 minutes into practice while he was 4th, 34 laps into a run he said, “The car turns well up until a point and then tight into 1.” He had the best 10 and 15 lap averages late in practice.
Kevin Harvick – His car was really strong over a long run. He reeled in Joey Logano and passed him. A 40-lap run chart showed that he was consistently faster than Logano.
Martin Truex Jr. – He started the session with a mock qualifying run which put him at the top of the speed chart. He ended the session 1st.
Ryan Newman – 15 minutes into practice he was 9th on the speed chart following a 27 lap run. His 15 lap average ranked as the 3rd best late in practice.
Ryan Blaney – Started with a 50 lap run. Had the 2nd best 15 lap average. He spent a lot of time on a simulator leading up to the weekend.
