Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Charlotte Roval
Kyle Larson – Last year at the Charlotte Roval, nobody was better than Kyle Larson. He earned the best driver rating, led 47 laps, had the best green flag average speed, was the fastest late in a run but he finished a misleading 25th. Late in the race while he was running in 2nd he was taken out in the restart “Big One” heading into turn 1 which wiped out much of the competition. If that late caution didn’t come out, I think he was poised to win.
Jimmie Johnson – Jimmie Johnson had a good car last year at the Roval, but he finished a misleading 8th. When the finish line was in sight and he was running in 2nd he wheel hopped and clipped Truex Jr. If that didn’t happen he was poised to finish in 2nd, or potentially even win if he would’ve roughed up Truex. On lap 100 prior to the restart “Big One” coming out he was running in 5th.
Martin Truex Jr. – Last year at the Roval, Martin Truex Jr. had a great car, but he finished a misleading 14th. On the final lap while leading when the finish line was in sight, Jimmie Johnson wheel hopped and clipped him which led to his misleading result. If that didn’t happen, Truex Jr. had the race won. I will note prior to the late restart “Big One” coming out he was running in 3rd.
