Charlotte Roval NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes

Martin Truex Jr. – He showed great speed at the start of the session and his opening lap put him at the top of the speed chart. 5 minutes into practice his engine blew up. He’ll have to start in the rear of the field on Sunday. He’ll be scored from his 8th place starting position. He only completed 3 laps and he never returned to the track. In an interview he said he had a good car. 

Alex Bowman – 5 minutes into practice while he was 11th he said “Lost a little drive off 8. Definitely rotates 4 better.” 20 minutes into practice he told his team he didn’t feel a big chance. With about 30 seconds left in practice he crashed in the infield. He’ll be going to a backup car and will start in the rear of the field. He’ll be scored from his 2nd place starting position.

Jimmie Johnson – 20 minutes into practice he spun in the infield and got a good amount of damage to the back of his car. In an interview he seemed to like his car. At the time of his post his team plans to repair his car. 

Brad Keselowski – He showed good speed early and 20 minutes into practice he was 2nd on the speed chart. Jeff Burton thought his car was one of the fastest.

Erik Jones – Early in practice he missed the chicane on the front stretch. 50 minutes into practice he was 20th on the speed chart.
