The Low Tier – Dover
Matt Tifft – Matt Tifft had a troubling debut at Dover this spring. In the race he was very uncompetitive, and trouble started before the green flag waved. His team failed inspection 3 times and that led to a drive thru penalty when the race started which dropped him two laps down instantly. That said, he finished 13 laps down. I’m going to speculate his team knew the race was over so they approached it very casually and when the checkered flag waved he finished 32nd.
Corey LaJoie – At Dover, I think Corey LaJoie will be a mid to high-twenties driver. At Dover, LaJoie has four starts on his resume and minus his engine failure he’s finished between 29th to 34th every race. Earlier this year, LaJoie had his best Dover race. He finished 29th, had a 29th place average running position and earned the 30th best driver rating. Last year, he finished 30th in the fall and in the spring his engine blew up and he finished a misleading 38th.
Ross Chastain – At Dover, look for Ross Chastain to be a high-twenties to low-thirties driver. That’s essentially his 2019 weekly level of performance and I think more of the same should be expected from him this weekend. At Dover, Chastain has a poor track record and his average finish is 30.6. Earlier this year, Chastain finished 30th, had a 31st place average running position and earned the 31st best driver rating. Last fall at the Monster Mile he didn’t run well, but he wasn’t 37th place bad. He had rear gear problems that led to his poor result. Prior to his problem he looked low 30’s good. In spring 2018 he was a high-twenties driver. He finished 28th and had a 29th place average running position.
Landon Cassill – At Dover, look for Landon Cassill to be a high-twenties to low-thirties driver. Over the last four Dover races he’s finished between 29th to 33rd, and on Sunday I think there’s a good chance he’ll finish around that range again. This spring at Dover, Cassill started 31st, finished 31st and had a 31st place average running position. Last year, Cassill had results of 31st and 33rd.
