Dover NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes
Kyle Larson – Appears he started the session with a qualifying run and his opening 2 lap run put him at the top of the speed chart. He had great long run speed and his ten lap average ranked as the best late. Late in practice he had the best 5 lap average and the third best 15 lap average. Steve Letarte thought his car looked good.
Jimmie Johnson – Near the start of practice while he was 5th his crew chief said, “Looking good.” 15 minutes into practice he had the 2nd best 5 lap average. 35 minutes into practice while he was 8th he wanted more grip. Late in practice after doing a 25 lap run his crew chief said, “That .90 was sporty!”
Kevin Harvick – He started with a long run and had great speed. Late in practice he had the best 15 lap average. Steve Letarte thought his car looked good.
Chase Elliott – He started with a qualifying run that put him 4th on the speed chart. 35 minutes into practice while he was 4th he said his car is still a “tick to the free side.” At that time he also said adjustments were improving the handling of his car overall. His car looks pretty strong this weekend.
Corey LaJoie – He started with a 2 lap qualifying run that put him 25th and said, “A little too free on-throttle and landing, it’s close though.” Late in practice while he was 26th after doing a long run he said, “Too tight that whole run.”
