Asterisk Mark Report – Talladega
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – Ricky Stenhouse Jr. had a great car earlier this year at Talladega, but he finished an asterisk mark 25th. On the last lap he wrecked. With 4 laps to go he was running in 2nd. If his race would’ve been incident free, I think he had a great chance to compete for a top five. He had a strong car and he’s one of the best drafters in NASCAR. In 3 of the 5 Talladega races prior to this spring he finished in the top 6.
Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski was a top five contender this spring at Talladega, but he finished an asterisk mark 13th. Late in the race during green flag pit stops he spun on pit road and he just never fully recovered from that. Five laps prior to spinning on lap 145 he was running in 2nd. Also from the race I’ll note he led 10 laps, had a 10th place average running position and earned the 3rd best driver rating.
William Byron – Earlier this year at Talladega, Byron had a fast car but finished an asterisk mark 21st. In the race he finished 7th in Stage #1, 3rd in Stage #2 and was running in 9th with 4 laps to go until he wrecked on the last lap.
Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson finished 24th this spring, but he wasn’t that bad. On the last lap he was taken out in a wreck that led to his poor result. With 4 laps to go he was running in 14th. His average running position for the afternoon was 12th. Overall in 4 of the last 6 Talladega races he’s finished in the top 13.
