Talladega NASCAR Happy Hour Practice Notes
NOTE: This session was mostly about drivers doing short runs by themselves to prepare for qualifying. Some drivers did do race runs though.
20 minutes into practice the 8 fastest drivers with 2 lap runs were (assuming they were qualifying are) …. 48,9,88,14,12,13,11,3
Paul Menard/ Matt Crafton – Early in practice Matt Crafton was driving the #21. Menard has been suffering from soreness in his neck.
Chris Buescher – Said he was pretty happy with his car. Said his car sucks up good in the draft. He was in qualifying trim exclusively this session. In practice #1 he was in race trim.
Ryan Blaney – Said practice went well and his car is fast.
William Byron – His opening run was in race trim. After that his team switched to their qualifying setup. Following his final run, Knaus was said to be happy with the car.
Ryan Preece – He was said to be happy with his car following his late run with the pack. “I got exactly what I needed to do out of that run.”
David Ragan – Early in practice he spent time running in a mini-draft. 30 minutes into practice following a run in qualifying trim he said his car doesn’t feel much different than race trim.
Aric Almirola – 30 minutes into practice he was leading a mini-pack with Harvick and Bowyer.
Erik Jones – Early in practice he was leading a group of cars from different makes.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – 15 minutes into the session he was running by himself doing a qualifying run.
Kevin Harvick – 40 minutes into practice he was leading a 5 car pack.
Joey Logano – He spent time drafting late in Kevin Harvick’s pack.
