Talladega NASCAR Practice #1 Notes
Chevy – Early in practice it appears nearly all the Chevy teams worked together drafting. Kyle Larson was leading cars of that make early.
Ford – Late in practice they worked together in a big draft. A few Toyota’s drafted with them.
Paul Menard – Matt Crafton is a standby driver for Paul Menard this weekend. It appears Crafton ran some laps in the #21 this session.
William Byron – His car looked pretty good and he did some experimenting in the draft. This session he focused on the surge he felt in between cars & monitoring that gap. He also said his goal is to show other Chevy teammates that his car is stable & fast so they have great partners to work with on Sunday.
Kyle Busch – Early in practice he had a fuel pump issue and his team pushed his car back to the garage area. About 15 minutes later he was able to return to practice. Midway through practice he was in a three car draft. Late in practiced when he hooked up with the Ford draft he jumped to the top of the speed chart.
Chase Elliott – Sounds like he’s really going to try to get Stage points on Sunday.
Martin Truex Jr. – Said his car was feeling pretty good, but he needs to be in a bigger pack to see what it does.
