Jimmie Johnson – Following his 2nd run while he was 21st he said his car was running better. He practiced running very high on the track, but the groove was very dirty. 40 minutes into practice after he logged a total of 26 laps and was sitting 23rd on the speed chart he said his car is still lacking rear grip. 45 minutes into practice his crew chief said, “Looking good bud.”
Daniel Suarez – 20 minutes into practice he had the best 5 lap average.
Chase Elliott – 10 minutes into practice while he was 25th he reported that his car has nice security on entry. His team wasn’t too concerned at the moment, but they did a 15 minute change to try to improve his balance. During a later run he was said to be more confident. He ended the session 23rd.
Brad Keselowski – 20 minutes into practice he had the 2nd best 5 lap average. Late in practice he did a qualifying run that jumped him to the top of the speed chart.
