Martinsville NASCAR Practice #1 Notes

Chase Elliott – Five minutes into practice his engine blew up. He’ll need to start in the rear of the field and he’ll be scored from his qualifying position. He only completed 5 laps this session.

Matt Tifft – He was taken to the hospital before practice begun on a stretcher. Matt Crafton practiced his car in both sessions. At this time its unknown if Tifft will race on Sunday.

Clint Bowyer – His car looked pretty strong this session. Midway through practice he was 2nd after running 26 laps. 40 minutes into practice he had the best 15 lap average.

Kevin Harvick – He was docked 30 minutes of practice time this session because of inspection failures last week. He was able to run 25 laps this session. He had the 5th best 15 lap average.

Martin Truex Jr. – He was docked 15 minutes of practice time this session because of inspection failures last week. Midway through practice he was 4th on the speed chart after running 24 laps. Right before he served his penalty he jumped to the top of the speed chart.
