The Fantasy NASCAR Low Tier – Texas
Corey LaJoie – At Texas, I think there’s a good chance Corey LaJoie will be a high-twenties driver to low-thirties driver. Over the last four races held at tracks of this length he has results of 28th, 28th, 28th and 30th. This spring at Texas, LaJoie finished 28th. Additionally, he had a 31st place average running position and earned the 33rd best driver rating. Last year at Texas he had major problems in both races and had results of 39th and 40th.
John Hunter Nemechek – At Texas, Nemechek will be making his series debut driving the #36. Tifft’s season is done, and Nemechek will drive his car for the remainder of the season. On Sunday, I think its best to keep expectations low and view him as a high-twenties to low-thirties driver. The #36 car is essentially about a 25th to 30th place car with Tifft behind the wheel, and I’m not sure Nemechek can do any better.
Landon Cassill – At Texas, I think Landon Cassill will be a high-twenties to low-thirties driver. This year at 1.5 mile tracks he’s almost always finished around that range in incident free races. In his last three incident free races at these venues he’s finished between 29th to 32nd. This spring at Texas, Cassill finished within the range I’m projecting. When the checkered flag waved he finished 30th and had a 32nd place average running position. Last fall at Texas he had a poor performance and finished 35th. Last spring he finished 21st, but keep in mind he finished 13 laps down and the attrition rate was very high in that race.
Ross Chastain – At Texas, look for Ross Chastain to be a high-twenties to low-thirties driver. That largely sums up his 2019 weekly level of performance at tracks of this length. This year over the 9 combined races at 1.5 mile tracks he has a 30.6 average finish and a 31.1 average running position. This spring at Texas, Chastian had a forgettable afternoon. He finished 29th and had a 31st place average running position. Last year, Chastain finished 32nd in the fall and in the spring which was a high-attrition race he finished 18th. I wouldn’t read into that result.
Matt Tifft – NOT RACING ANYMORE IN 2019. HIS SEASON IS OVER.
