Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Texas
Ryan Blaney – Nobody had a more misleading result than Ryan Blaney this spring at Texas. “Performance Wise”, Blaney had one of the best cars but when you look at his 37th place finish you wouldn’t know it. In the race Blaney finished 5th in Stage #1, finished 2nd in Stage #2 and led 45 laps, but while he was leading engine issues surfaced which marked the end of his race.
Paul Menard – Paul Menard was sneaky good this spring at Texas, and most people will see the 19th next to his name and probably think that was a normal afternoon for him. It wasn’t. Paul Menard was a legitimate top five contender, but his race wasn’t incident free. In the race he finished 6th in Stage #1, 5th in Stage #2 but around lap 190 he made an unexpected pit stop for a loose wheel and he never bounced back from that.
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch was a contender to win this spring at Texas, but he finished a misleading 10th. In the race he earned the best driver rating, had the best average running position (7th), led the most laps (66), finished 8th in Stage #1 and 4th in Stage #2. Late in the race while he was leading he had a bad restart and then a few laps later he slammed into the wall hard which led to an unexpected pit stop.
