Kyle Larson – It was speculated his car has a lot of down force because he was able to run wide open 25 minutes into practice. At that time he was 8th on the speed chart. At that time his team said “We’re really good in 3 and 4.” They also added they give up a little in turns 1 and 2. In this session Larson ran the most laps. Dale Earnhardt Jr. thought his car was working well for him. His ten lap average ranked as the 4th best and his 15 lap average ranked as the 3rd best. His 20 lap average ranked as the best.
John Hunter Nemechek – 30 minutes into practice while he was 32nd he said, “better as far as turnability; could stand more lateral stability.”
Denny Hamlin – He started the session with a mock qualifying run that put him at the top of the speed chart. His car looked very competitive. While he was 2nd, 40 minutes into practice he said, “Little bit tight late exit.” In the session his 10 lap average ranked as the 2nd best.
Corey LaJoie – He started the session with a qualifying run that put him 26th. Following that run he said “About a 2/10 tight there.” 35 minutes into practice while he was 30th he said his car was too free. Late in practice his team was searching for more platform security.
Chris Buescher – 10 minutes into practice while he was 18th he said, “Once it loads up, it turns really well.” His team never completed a 10 lap run this session.
