Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Phoenix (ISM Raceway)
Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski may have very well been top ten good this spring at Phoenix, but his afternoon wasn’t incident free and he finished 19th. On lap 50 while he was running in 9th he started to complain that something was wrong with his car. Then on lap 64 after he had rapidly fallen back into the 20’s he slammed into the wall hard which ruined his afternoon.
Matt DiBenedetto – Matt DiBenedetto showed potential this spring at Phoenix, but at the end he had to deal with an ailing engine which led to his misleading 28th place finish. With 61 laps to go he was running in 14th, but then with 50 laps to go he made an unexpected pit stop to try to solve his engine issue. “Performance Wise”, I think he was clearly a low double-digit to mid-teens performer.
Erik Jones – Erik Jones didn’t have an incident free race this spring at Phoenix and finished a misleading 29th after trouble struck early. In the race he started in 10th, but then on lap 39 while he was running in 12th he had a flat tire and spun. His tire started to shred and this problem dropped him 4 laps down, dooming his afternoon.
Austin Dillon – Austin Dillon showed potential this spring at Phoenix, but he finished a misleading 21st. With 6 laps to go while he was running in the top ten he had to pit for fuel. His average running position for the afternoon was 12th. Realistically, I think Dillon was likely about a mid-teens performer. When he was running in the top ten late it was artificially through pit strategy, but he ran quite a bit of laps in the top ten.
