Homestead Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions
Paul Menard – At Homestead, Paul Menard will be making his series farewell as he heads towards retirement. On Sunday, I’m going to view as a mid to high-teens finisher. This year at 1.5 mile tracks over the ten combined races he has a 17.0 average finish and a 16.3 average running position. In the Playoffs at these venues his three results are between 14th to 20th. At Homestead over the last four races, Menard has a 19.0 average finish and a 23.3 average running position. Last year, Menard had a clunker performance and never ran well. When the race reached its conclusion he finished 25th and had a 25th place average running position. In 2017 in his #27 car farewell he finished 16th, but he never really ran that well. His average running position was 24th and his driver rating ranked as the 23rd best. In 2016, he had a similar performance. He finished 14th, but don’t overlook his 23rd place average running position. If it wasn’t for the late carnage he probably would’ve finished around 20th. In 2015 he finished 21st, had a 21st place average running position and earned the 20th best driver rating.

Daniel Hemric – At Homestead, Daniel Hemric will be making his #8 RCR farewell. This year on a weekly basis he’s typically proven himself to be a high-teens to low-twenties driver, and on Sunday I would look for that to be the case again as he makes his track debut in NASCAR’s top series. This year at 1.5 mile tracks since May minus Kansas #2 he has a 19.2 average finish and an 18.7 average running position. Last year at Homestead in the season finale in the lower series he finished 4th.
Ty Dillon – At Homestead, I’m going to project Ty Dillon as a high-teens to low-twenties driver. His team has been running better recently and in the Playoffs in the combined races held at 1.5 mile tracks he has an 18.7 average finish and a 21.7 average running position. Over those three races he’s come home with results of 16th (Las Vegas), 18th (Texas) and 22nd (Kansas). At Homestead, Dillon has finished between 22nd to 26th in 3 of his 4 races. In the one race he didn’t, he crashed. Last year in the season finale, Dillon finished 22nd and had a 26th place average running position. In 2017 he finished 26th and had a 23rd place average running position.
