Final Top 25 Fantasy NASCAR Rankings for Daytona
1. Denny Hamlin – Starts 21st – DraftKings Price: $10,400 – FanDuel Price: $13,000 – Slingshot Price: $11,900
Everyone’s favorite this weekend should be Denny Hamlin. He’s the defending Daytona 500 winner, and honestly this #11 Toyota has looked stronger than ever during Speedweeks this year. Hamlin will start back in 21st for Sunday’s Great American Race, but that’s only because he was making moves in his Duel race and got shuffled back. In other words, he was practicing for the race on Sunday. In addition to the win in last year’s Daytona 500, Denny has ended up 3rd, 17th, 1st, 4th, and 2nd over the last five years of the big race. You can’t beat that record. If you want to be contrarian, there’s going to be a ton of people picking Hamlin this week, so there’s your chance to possibly create an advantage if he has an issue, but at the same time, you’ll regret it if he has a “normal” performance.
2. Joey Logano – Starts 3rd – DraftKings Price: $10,500 – FanDuel Price: $14,000 – Slingshot Price: $12,000
The other guy that has a ridiculous record in the Daytona 500 is Joey Logano. He won his Duel race on Thursday night and could very well lead the most laps here on Sunday, Looking at the last five years of Daytona 500s, Logano has finished 4th, 4th, 6th, 6th, and 1st. It’s almost impossible to beat that, and for those consistent results to come on a superspeedway track, it’s almost unbelievable. Logano has another great Ford this weekend and, like Hamlin, will be in contention unless he gets into trouble. Last year at Daytona and Talladega, Logano had the 4th-best average finish of all drivers with 11.0.
3. Kyle Busch – Starts 28th – DraftKings Price: $9,800 – FanDuel Price: $14,000 – Slingshot Price: $11,700
For a while there, Kyle Busch was one to avoid at superspeedway races, but he really turned things around last season and it all started here in the Daytona 500, as Rowdy finished runner-up to teammate Denny Hamlin. That helped Kyle with his average finish of 11.3 at Daytona and Talladega last season, which was 5th-best in the series. As far as this weekend goes, the Gibbs Toyotas are all strong, and if Kyle Busch doesn’t wreck, he’s usually a threat here at Daytona. What I really like about Rowdy this weekend, though, is how the media is talking about him–about how he hasn’t won The Great American Race. These last couple of years, coincidental things have been happening (Austin Dillon winning the 500 on the 20-year anniversary of Dale Sr.’s win, Denny Hamlin winning for JD Gibbs last year) and while that’s nothing to base a fantasy pick on, why not? This is Daytona, have some fun! Kyle is boom or bust at this track, as he has three top 5s compared to four finishes of 20th or worse in the last eight races here. Want to roll the dice?
