Las Vegas Fantasy NASCAR Top Tier Elite Picks
Kevin Harvick – Kevin Harvick is a super-elite performer at Las Vegas who’ll be one of the drivers to beat. He’s a recent Las Vegas winner and since 2015 in incident free races he has 2 wins, a 3.0 average finish, a 3.6 average running position, he’s finished in the top 7 every race and he’s averaged leading 98.4 laps per race. Last fall, Harvick had a great car that ranked as one of the best. When the checkered flag waved he finished 2nd, earned the best driver rating, had the best average running position (4th), led 47 laps, finished 2nd in Stage #1 and finished 4th in Stage #2. Also from the race I’ll note he had the 2nd best Green Flag Average Speed and he ranked as the 4th fastest late in a run. In spring 2019, Harvick had a strong showing from the pole. In the race he earned the best driver rating, finished 4th, had a 3rd place average running position and led 88 laps. Additionally, he finished 1st in Stage #1 and 2nd in Stage #2. In fall 2018, Harvick had a fast car and was top five good, but finished a misleading 39th. On lap 148 while he was running around 6th place he had a flat tire and crashed hard which marked the end of his race. In the event he finished 2nd in Stage # 1, led 14 laps and probably would’ve finished in the top five if his race would’ve been incident free. In spring 2018 he put on a display of domination and was the class of the field. He earned a perfect driver rating, finished 1st, led 214 laps and won both Stage #1 and Stage #2. Last fall at Texas, the most recent non-high tire wear intermediate track visited, Harvick led 119 laps and easily raced his way to victory lane. On Sunday, look for Harvick to compete for a top five and potentially be a factor to win.

Joey Logano – Joey Logano is the defending champion of the spring Las Vegas race and on Sunday he’ll be a factor. It’s been a phenomenal track for him and he unquestionably ranks among the best. Over the last six races at “Sin City” he has a 4.5 average finish and a 5.0 average running position. In 2019 at Las Vegas between the combined events, I would argue Logano was the best. Last fall, Logano had a great car, but finished a misleading 9th. In the race he started 22nd but that wasn’t a problem. He won Stage #1, finished 2nd in Stage #2, led the most laps (105) and had the 3rd best Green Flag Average Speed. Unfortunately, Logano didn’t have an incident free race and during the lap 180’s while he was running just outside the top five shortly after a restart (others leap frogged him through pit strategy) his car was damaged after contact and the #22 was never the same after that. “Performance Wise”, there’s no question he was top five good. In spring 2019, Logano had a great car and raced his way to victory lane. In addition to winning he earned the 2nd best driver rating, had a 4th place average running position, led 86 laps, finished 3rd in Stage #1 and won Stage #2. In fall 2018, Logano was fast. He finished 4th, earned the 3rd best driver rating, had a 4th place average running position, led 46 laps, finished 7th in Stage #1 and 6th in Stage #2. In spring 2018, he had a solid showing. He finished 7th, had a 6th place average running position, earned the 6th best driver rating and led 25 laps. Additionally, he finished 5th in Stage #1 and 4th in Stage #2. In the four races prior to that he had results of 4th, 2nd, 10th and 4th. On Sunday, look for Logano to finish in the top five and compete for the win.

Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. has thrived at Las Vegas and on Sunday he’ll be a favorite. He raced his way to victory lane last fall, and he’s consistently performed at an extremely high-level. Over the last five races at Las Vegas, Truex has 2 wins, the best driver rating, the best average finish (3.4), the 2nd best average running position (5.6), he’s led the 2nd most laps (284) and he’s finished in the top 8 every race. Last fall, Truex Jr. reeled in Harvick late and then raced his way to victory lane. In addition to winning from the 24th place starting position he finished 8th in Stage #1, won Stage #2, had the best green flag average speed, ranked as the fastest driver late in a run and led 32 laps. In spring 2019, Truex ran well, but was a little off when the full 2019 aero rules package made its debut. In the race he started 23rd, finished 8th and had an 11th place average running position. Additionally, he finished 7th in Stage #1 and 3rd in Stage #2. In 2018, Truex Jr. had a phenomenal year at Las Vegas and swept the top 4. In fall 2018 he had a strong performance and ranked as one of the best. In the race he earned the best driver rating, had the best average running position (3rd), led a race high 96 laps, won Stage #1, finished 3rd in Stage #2, and then finished 3rd when the checkered flag waved. In spring 2018, Truex finished 4th, earned the 4th best driver rating and had a 5th place average running position. Additionally, he finished 2nd in Stage #1 and 7th in Stage #2. In 2017, Truex Jr. was exceptionally strong and raced his way to victory lane. In addition to winning he won Stage #1, won Stage #2, earned the best driver rating, had a 2nd place average running position and led a race high 150 laps.
