Auto Club Fantasy NASCAR Mid Pack Predictions and The Low Tier
Ty Dillon – If you pick Ty Dillon at Auto Club, look for him to be a low to mid-twenties driver. That’s more than fair when you consider he currently has back to back 27th place finishes at this high tire-wear 2.0 mile oval. Racing at high-tire wear tracks hasn’t been a strength for Dillon, and in 2019 at those venues minus Chicagoland where he had problems he had a 24th place average finish. At Auto Club over his three combined races, Dillon has a 24.0 average finish and a 24.0 average running position. Last year at Auto Club the number you need to know about Dillon is 27. He finished 27th, had a 27th place average running position and earned the 27th best driver rating. I’ll also note he finished 3 laps down and in terms of speed late in a run he ranked as the 22nd best. In 2018, Dillon didn’t have a great performance and finished two laps down back in 27th. It just wasn’t a competitive performance from him and his average running position was 29th. In 2017 he was better when he made his track debut. He finished 18th, earned the 17th best driver rating and had a 16th place average running position.

Ryan Preece – At Auto Club, look for Ryan Preece to be a low to mid-twenties driver. If things go really well, he might be able to finish in the high-teens, but I wouldn’t press my luck. Last year at Auto Club in his lone track start he finished 23rd, had a 24th place average running position and had the 26th best Green Flag Average Speed.
John Hunter Nemechek – At Auto Club, look for John Hunter Nemechek to be a low to mid-twenties driver. That’s how Front Row Motorsports cars stack against the competition, and I have every reason to believe that will continue to be the case. Last year at Auto Club in the lower series, Nemechek crashed and finished 28th. At Las Vegas last week, Nemechek finished 24th and had a 20.1 average running position.
