Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Darlington
William Byron – At Darlington, Byron is 2 for 2 at being a top ten contender only to walk away with a misleading result. Last year at “The Track Too Tough To Tame”, Byron had a great race but his evening unraveled late when he was involved in a multi-car wreck (Lap 275) while running around 5th which led to his asterisk mark 21st place finish. In the race it should be noted Byron started on the pole, finished 11th in Stage #1 and 8th in Stage #2.
Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. is unquestionably one of the best performers at Darlington, but he’s had problems while running in the top five the last three races which have led to asterisk mark results! In 2019 at Darlington, Truex Jr. had a great car but finished a misleading 15th. In the race he finished 9th in Stage #1 but in Stage #2 while he was running around 5th at lap 175 he made an unexpected pit stop which hampered the remainder of his evening.
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin had one of the best cars last year at Darlington, but he finished a misleading 29th. In the race he finished 5th in Stage #1, 3rd in Stage #2 but then in the final Stage around lap 275 while he was running in 4th he crashed which doomed him to a poor result.
Jimmie Johnson – Jimmie Johnson had a great race last year at Darlington and was a top five contender, but he finished a misleading 16th. In the race he finished 2nd in Stage #1, 7th in Stage #2 but then on lap 275 while he was running around 6th he was involved in a multi-car wreck that led to his asterisk mark result.
