Darlington #2 Fantasy NASCAR Predictions
We’re right back at it again this week, as the NASCAR Cup Series will race again at Darlington Raceway on Wednesday night. That’s the plan anyway, although Mother Nature may have something to say about it. Anyway, in my opinion, this race is going to play out just like the one on Sunday afternoon did, just with a couple of minor changes: the race is shorter (by 65 laps) and the good cars are starting mid-pack. How the starting lineup was set for this mid-week race was the top 20 finishes on Sunday were inverted, and then 21st through 40th will start where they finished. Final Top 25 Fantasy NASCAR Rankings for Toyota 500(k)
1. Kevin Harvick – Starts 20th – DraftKings Price: $11,600 – FanDuel Price: $13,200 – Slingshot Price: $13,000
I’m not sure how anyone could not think that Kevin Harvick is the favorite heading into Wednesday night’s race at Darlington. He was in a league of his own here on Sunday afternoon and is bringing the same car to the track for this race. Yeah, he starts back in 20th, but the good cars will make their way to the front pretty quickly once the Toyota 500(k) goes green. With his win on Sunday, “Happy” now has three straight top 5 finishes at Darlington, along with seven top 5s in the last eight events here (with a worse finish of 9th in that span). Don’t be surprised if he goes back-to-back.
2. Alex Bowman – Starts 19th – DraftKings Price: $10,000 – FanDuel Price: $10,600 – Slingshot Price: $11,800
The only other car that was close to Kevin Harvick on Sunday was the #88 Chevrolet in Alex Bowman. And if you weren’t convinced before, you have to be now: Bowman is an elite racer on high wear race tracks. That 2nd-place finish on Sunday afternoon is by far Alex’s best finish at this track, but as far as I’m concerned, you can throw previous years out the window. Bowman will start alongside Kevin Harvick on Wednesday night, in 19th, but will be a top 5 contender when it’s all said and done. We might even see him get another win.
3. Chase Elliott – Starts 17th – DraftKings Price: $10,300 – FanDuel Price: $11,700 – Slingshot Price: $12,200
One thing is for certain: the Hendrick horsepower is real. All four of these cars could have finished inside the top 5 here at Darlington on Sunday, and they’ll no doubt be contender for solid finishes on Wednesday night, too. As far as Chase Elliott goes, he came home 4th on Sunday and I think the #9 team might be able to run just a little better here in the second race. Chase now has two top 5s in his last three Darlington starts and four finishes of 11th or better in his last five. He’s a safe pick who should be, at worst, a top 10 driver this week.
