Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Charlotte

Ryan Blaney – Last year at Charlotte, Ryan Blaney finished a respectable 13th, but that’s a misleading result. In the race he finished 10th in Stage #1, 7th in Stage #2, 4th in Stage #3 and had a 7.8 average running position. Blaney’s asterisk mark result is the product of him making an unexpected pit stop while running in 3rd with about 10 laps to go.

Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin has never won at Charlotte, but make no mistake he’s one of the premiere performers. In 5 of the last 7 races at this 1.5 mile track he’s finished in the top 5. Last year he likely would’ve made it 6 for 7, but he finished an asterisk mark 17th after having mutliple probelms. In the race he finished 2nd in Stage #2, but in Stage #2 while running 3rd he got into the wall hard.Then during the Stage #3 pit stop after he rebounded to finish 10th in that Stage, he completely missed his pit stall. Later around lap 360 while running in 6th he got into the wall hard. Then on the final lap, he crashed.

Kurt Busch – Kurt Busch was a top ten contender last year at Charlotte, but he finished an asterisk mark 27th when the checkered flag waved. In the race he finished 8th in Stage #1, 5th in Stage #3 but then around lap 310 while he was running in the top ten he spun and got splitter damage which doomed him to a poor result.
