Charlotte Race Notes
William Byron who won the pole selected to start in the bottom lane. He led the opening 24 laps. William Byron had a strong car and he liked his car in practice.
Around lap 15, Kyle Larson was shown getting into the wall moderately hard. He fell back a few positions after doing so.
Around lap 18, Landon Cassill was on pit road and his car was said to be smoking.
Around lap 20, Logano was in 20th. He started in 7th. He said it felt like something was wrong with his car. He said it was a 4.5 out of 5 in terms of tightness.
Big Moment: On lap 22, Erik Jones who was running in 12th got into the wall hard. This marked the end of his race and led to his last place finish. He blew a right front tire.
During the Erik Jones caution, Kyle Busch got the lead and he then proceeded to lead the next 25 laps.
Running order for the restart following the Erik Jones caution: 18,3,24,4,10,41,17,14,8,19 … 88,48,12,2,9,1
Kevin Harvick’s car was looking pretty good following the restart. He was battling Kyle Busch for the lead.
Big Moment: On lap 48, Matt DiBenedetto crashed into the wall hard which marked the end of his race. It brought out a caution. He was running in 19th at the time.
Running order coming to pit road during the DiBenedetto caution: 18,4,24,19,3,41,10,8,14,1
Notable Moment: During the Matt DiBenedetto caution, Chase Elliott was caught speeding on pit road and Aric Almirola had a tire violation. This dropped both of them back into the thirties.
Daniel Suarez had a bad restart when the race went back to green following the DiBenedetto caution and it dropped him from 6th to 9th immediately.
Between laps 51- 62, Kevin Harvick and Kyle Busch traded the lead with each other every four laps.
On lap 63, Martin Truex Jr. took the lead.
Big Moment: On lap 73 while leading, Martin Truex Jr. had a tire go down and got into the wall hard. He was able to keep on racing and eventually won the race.
Lots of pit strategy played out during the Truex Jr. caution since there was so many cautions already. Some teams were already concerned they would run out of tires.
On lap 82, Brad Keselowski took the lead and he then led the next 9 laps.
Running order around lap 85: 2,8,4,11,17,24,9
Notable Moment: While running in 7th, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. spun on lap 86. His hood was now bent up some.
Notable Moment: Shortly after the restart following the Stenhouse caution, Hemric got into the wall hard after contact with Bowyer.

Around lap 107, Chris Buescher brushed the wall hard. He was running well in 11th place at the time of his problem.
On lap 107, Denny Hamlin firmly took the lead and he then led the next 21 laps.
Bowman had a strong car. Around lap 125 he was running in 7th.
Notable Moment: On lap 127, Chris Buescher got into the wall hard and brought out a caution.

Clint Bowyer, Daniel Hemric and Bubba Wallace both got pit penalties during the Buescher caution.
On lap 134, a few laps after the restart, Brad Keselowski took the lead from Ryan Blaney and then led the next 29 laps.
Joey Logano made a green flag pit stop roughly around lap 150. It was essentially the start of green flag pit stops in that stage.
Big Moment: Denny Hamlin got into the wall on lap 161 which brought out a caution. He got into it pretty hard. He was the 3rd JGR affiliated driver who had a problem and got into the wall.

Notable Moment: While running in 26th on lap 189, Ryan Preece got into the wall and this brought out a caution.
