Charlotte Fantasy NASCAR Confidence Rankings (UPDATED)
1) Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. has owned Charlotte in recent races, and on Sunday you can count on him to be a factor. Truex is the defending Coca Cola 600 champion, and in 6 of the last 7 Charlotte races he’s finished in the top 3. Over the last four Charlotte races, Truex has a 1.8 average finish. Last year en route to victory lane, Truex earned the best driver rating and led a race high 116 laps. What makes his win even more impressive is that on lap 73 while leading, he got into the wall hard which brought out a caution. In the three Charlotte races prior to that he had results of 2nd, 1st and 3rd. At Las Vegas earlier this year, Truex had one of the best cars but didn’t have an incident free race. 2) Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott has been fast every week in 2020, and at Charlotte you know he’ll be good. At Las Vegas earlier this year, he arguably had the best car, but his race wasn’t incident free. In the race he led 70 laps and won Stage #1 & #2. Last year at Charlotte, Elliott had a great car. In the race he finished 4th, had a 6.9 average running position, led 43 laps and earned the 4th best driver rating. In terms of speed analytics, Elliott was the 6th “Fastest Driver Late In A Run” and had the 7th best “Green Flag Average Speed.” In the two Charlotte races prior to that he had results of 11th and 2nd. (DraftKings $9,700 / FanDuel $11,500 )
3) Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch is a super-elite performer at Charlotte who should be on your short list of favorites. He won this race in 2018, and in 3 of the last 4 races he’s finished in the top 3. In those combined races minus fall 2017 where he had a misleading result he has a 1.3 average finish and a 3.3 average running position. Last year at Charlotte, Busch finished 3rd and led 79 laps. In terms of speed analytics, Busch was the “Fastest Driver Late In A Run” and would’ve ranked #1 in “Green Flag Speed” if Jones didn’t crash out early which can skew that stat. In 2018, Busch earned a perfect driver rating, won the race, won the first three stages and led a staggering 377 laps. One attribute I really like about Busch is that he’s starting to find his groove this season and in 3 of the last 4 races he’s finished in the top 3. (DraftKings $11,500 / FanDuel $14,000 )
