Charlotte #2 Fantasy NASCAR Confidence Rankings
1) Martin Truex Jr. (Starting 15th) Martin Truex Jr. is a super-elite performer at Charlotte who should be on your short list of favorites. He was fast in Charlotte #1, and in Charlotte #2 I think he’ll clearly be a driver to be reckoned with. In terms of speed analytics from Sunday, Truex ranked as the “Fastest Driver Late In A Run” and his “Green Flag Average Speed” also ranked as the best. In the race he finished 2nd in Stage #1, 2nd in Stage #2, 4th in Stage #3, 6th when the checkered flag waved and led 87 laps. His 2.8 average running position for the evening ranked as the best. “Performance Wise”, I think Truex likely had the 2nd best car. In 2019 at Charlotte, Truex Jr. led 116 laps and raced his way to victory lane despite being a caution in the race. At Las Vegas the one other 1.5 mile track visited earlier this year, Truex Jr. ranked as one of the best drivers but he didn’t have an incident free race. Since NASCAR is back, Truex is one of just two drivers who are 3 for 3 in terms of finishing in the top ten. (DraftKings $9,400 / FanDuel $14,000 )

2) Chase Elliott (Starting 19th) Chase Elliott will be driving with vengeance on Wednesday after costing himself a crown jewel win in the Coca Cola 600. All he had to do was not pit and the race was his for the taking (in theory). I’m sure his team learned their lesson and they won’t do that again. In Charlotte #1, Elliott finished 2nd, had a 6.9 average running position, led 38 laps and ranked as the 2nd “Fastest Driver Late In A Run.” In 2019 at Charlotte, Elliott finished 4th. At Las Vegas the one other 1.5 mile track visited earlier this season, Elliott won the first two Stages, led 70 laps and was likely the driver to beat until trouble struck. (DraftKings $9,700 / FanDuel $13,000 )
3) Alex Bowman (Starting 2nd) Alex Bowman was impressive in Charlotte #1, and in Charlotte #2 starting on the front row you know he’ll be tough to beat. In Charlotte #1 he finished 19th, but that’s extremely misleading. There’s no question he was top five good, but that late final restart tanked his evening. From the race I’ll note he won Stage 1, won Stage #2, finished 2nd in Stage #3, led a race high 146 laps, had a 3.9 average running position and ranked as the 3rd “Fastest Driver Late In A Run.” In his two Charlotte races prior to that he had results of 3rd and 9th. At Las Vegas the one other 1.5 mile track visited this season, Bowman was top five good but finished a misleading 13th because of the late caution. (DraftKings $8,700 / FanDuel $12,200 )
