Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Talladega
Last fall at Talladega, nearly everyone had a problem! Even Ryan Blaney who won the race didn’t have an incident free afternoon. In the race he spun coming to pit road and got a speeding penalty! Since nearly everyone had a problem, this post is going to highlight key notable drivers from the race last fall who walked away with an asterisk mark result.
William Byron – William Byron was fast last fall at Talladega, but he crashed and finished 33rd. In the race he won Stage #1, finished 8th in Stage #2, led 13 laps but crashed in the last segment while running in the top five. With 30 laps to go it should be noted he was the leader.
Alex Bowman – Alex Bowman was fast at Talladega in 2020. Last spring he finished 2nd, and last fall he was wrecked after he just took the lead. In Stage #1 he finished 3rd prior to his demise in the second Stage.
Kurt Busch – Kurt Busch is one of the best in the business at superspeedway racing and over the last 11 races minus the race last fall, and fall 2017 his average finish is 7.7. Last fall at Talladega, Busch crashed not once, but twice and both of them happened while he was running near the top five. In the race he finished 9th in Stage #1, 9th in Stage #2 and was leading with 11 laps to go, but then with 7 laps to go he was involved in his 2nd accident which doomed him to 28th place finish.
Kyle Busch – Last fall at Talladega, Busch was pretty racy but finished 19th. With 11 laps to go he was running in 8th, but then with 7 laps to go he was swept up in the “Big One” which led to his poor result.
