Kentucky Post Qualifying Draw Fantasy NASCAR Predictions
We’re headed to Kentucky Speedway this weekend for a jam-packed weekend of racing with the Xfinity Series and Truck Series also there to play. The Cup Series race is set to start around 2:30 pm ET on Sunday, which will put it in the heat of the afternoon–something we’re not used to seeing here. Typically this race is under the lights. As far as Kentucky goes, it’s a typical 1.5-mile “cookie cutter” track, and it was repaved before the 2016 race. The five races ran here before that are insignificant. Kyle Busch drew the pole for this weekend’s Quaker State 400 and Joey Logano will start 2nd. Click here for the full starting lineup.

Final Top 25 Fantasy NASCAR Rankings for the Quaker State 400
1. Kyle Busch – Starts 1st – DraftKings Price: $10,100 – FanDuel Price: $13,000 – Slingshot Price: $12,300
It’s been a while since we’ve had an episode of the KB Show, but what a perfect track for it to make a comeback. Kentucky is Kyle Busch’s best track on the schedule. In the nine races we’ve ran here, he’s collected two wins, seven top 5 finishes, and has never finished worse than 12th. With that being said, the big question this week is whether or not you can trust him in Fantasy NASCAR, considering we haven’t seen the “normal” Kyle Busch this year. Here’s a couple reasons why I like Rowdy this week: first, this is the first time he’s drawn a front row starting spot, and we all know how important track position is in these races. Additionally, the #18 Toyota probably would have been in victory lane at Atlanta earlier this year if Kevin Harvick wasn’t so great there. Three: Kyle Busch is getting his speed back, as his average Green Flag Speed ranking of 7.5 is 3rd-best in the series over the last six non-superspeedway races. And finally, do you remember who dominated at Homestead, the last 1.5-mile track we raced at? Denny Hamlin, also with Joe Gibbs Racing power. I could be completely off here but I think we see the “old” Kyle Busch make a comeback here at Kentucky on Sunday.
2. Kevin Harvick – Starts 3rd – DraftKings Price: $11,600 – FanDuel Price: $14,500 – Slingshot Price: $13,000
There’s not much to dislike about Kevin Harvick this weekend. He’s coming off of three top 2 finishes at Pocono and Indianapolis, and this #4 Ford has been super fast on the 1.5-mile tracks this year, with an average Green Flag Speed ranking of 7.2, which is 3rd-best behind Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney. In three of those five races, Harvick has ranked top 5 in Green Flag Speed. Here at Kentucky, Harvick’s record actually isn’t great. He has a career average finish of 10.8 here but just one top 5 finish in nine total starts. That’s my only concern with the #4 Ford this weekend, though. I’d be surprised if Harvick doesn’t get a second top 5 Kentucky finish on Sunday, and maybe even his first win at this track.
3. Chase Elliott – Starts 8th – DraftKings Price: $10,500 – FanDuel Price: $12,500 – Slingshot Price: $12,500
This is just a pretty safe pick if you ask me. Chase Elliott has had the fastest car all season, and that speed has shown up particularly at 1.5-mile tracks, as his average Green Flag Speed ranking is 4.0 on this track type over the five races in 2020. Finish-wise, Chase had the dominant car at Las Vegas but had issues, finished 2nd at Charlotte-1 but should have won, took the checkered flag at Charlotte-2, finished 8th at Atlanta, and then 2nd at Homestead. By the way, Goodyear is bringing the same tires from Las Vegas to the race at Kentucky this weekend, so that’s good, too. As far as Kentucky goes, Chase has a 3rd-place finish to his credit here (back in 2017) but every other race has ended with him outside of the top 10. That’s a little concerning, but I can’t look past the speed this #9 Chevrolet has this year. For what it’s worth, my Algorithm has Chase as the favorite this weekend.
