Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Michigan
Aric Almirola – Almirola looked solid last summer at Michigan, but he finished a misleading 33rd. In the race he finished 10th in Stage #1 but then on the final lap of Stage #2 while he was running in 13th he was involved in an incident with Austin Dillon and got heavy damage which ruined his afternoon. “Performance Wise”, I think its clear he looked like a low double-digit driver.
Ryan Blaney – Ryan Blaney was a top five contender last summer at Michigan, but he finished an asterisk mark 24th. In the race he finished 7th in Stage #1, 7th in Stage #2 and had a 6.8 average running position. With 16 laps to go before he ducked to pit road for fuel, he was running in 5th.
Joey Logano – If fuel mileage didn’t enter the equation last summer at Michigan, then there’s a good chance Joey Logano would’ve swept the season at MIS. Instead, he finished 17th last August after easing up near the end and then ducking down pit road for fuel with 4 laps to go while running in 2nd. In the race he finished 4th in Stage #1, 4th in Stage #2 and led 52 laps between lap 127 and lap 182 before he really started easing up at the end.
Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski had a great car last summer at Michigan, but his 19th place finish covers that up. In the race he led the most laps (66) and was running in 3rd with 11 laps to go before he ducked down pit road for fuel.
Kurt Busch – Kurt Busch finished 18th last summer at Michigan, but you can put an asterisk mark next to that result. On the last lap he ran out of fuel and crawled around the track. With 8 laps to go he was running in 8th.
