Michigan Fantasy NASCAR Pre-Draw Talent Tiering
Are you ready for Michigan! You better be, because this weekend is a Michigan double-header! The first race is on Saturday which will be followed by a race on Sunday. Both races are 312 miles long with Stages set for 40/85/156 laps.
Michigan is a place were teams intermediate track programs will really be put to the test. I view it as the purest test for how intermediate track programs stack up against each other.
Michigan is a big 2.0 mile oval, and there’s no perfect direct track comparison. In terms of data to look at in terms of tracks visited this year, I would focus on smooth to low tire wear intermediate tracks (Kansas, Texas, Kentucky, Charlotte and Las Vegas) and Auto Club, which is the other big 2.0 mile oval on the schedule, but the surface is completely different there. In terms of the smooth to low tire wear intermediate tracks visited, I would put special emphasis on Kansas. I view that as sort of a “Mini-Michigan.”
The lineup for Saturday’s race will be by draw, and the results from Saturday will set the lineup for Sunday (Top 20 inversion, and then 21st starts 21st, 22nd starts 22nd etc.).
