Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Charlotte Roval (2019)
Kyle Busch – Kyle Busch was a top ten contender last year at the Charlotte Roval, but he finished an asterisk mark 37th. In the race he finished just outside the top ten in Stage #2, and then in the final Stage while he was running around 10th on lap 67 he had a flat tire which led to an unexpected pit stop which dropped him off the lead lap. Then right at the end during the red flag in scorching heat, he simply called it a race since he was already locked into the next round and was doomed for a bad result.
Erik Jones – Erik Jones is 2 for 2 at having major trouble at the Charlotte Roval. Last year, nobody had a shorter afternoon then Erik Jones and he finished dead last in 40th. In last years race during a restart around lap 20 he was involved in a multi-car wreck which marked the end of his afternoon. His car hardly looked damaged, but that was the end of his race. In the race he started 15th and on lap 15 prior to his problem he was running in 22nd.
Ryan Newman – Last year when Ryan Newman was up for elimination at the Roval, he got eliminated in a rebellious fashion and finished 32nd. Realistically, I think Newman was a high-teens performer, but his race wasn’t incident free. Late in the race problems just piled up on him. He had a slow pit stop with about 20 laps to go, spun out with 16 laps to go and then right near the end he messed up in the chicane but didn’t serve his penalty which resulted in NASCAR placing him as the last car on the lead lap. For the afternoon his average running position was 18.5.
