Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Homestead
Joey Logano – Nobody had a more eventful race then Joey Logano last summer at Homestead and he finished an asterisk mark 27th! In the race, Logano started in 2nd and led 27 of the first 29 laps. Then during the caution for rain around lap 33, trouble started. On pit road during that caution he ran into the back of Quin Houff and got nose damage which dropped him back to 11th. He then struggled for the remainder of Stage #1, and then during the Stage caution he had a long pit stop as his team worked to repair some damage to his nose. That put Logano deep in the field, and then around lap 170 he had contact with Ryan Newman which resulted in notable body damage. Since his day was going so badly and misery loves company, Logano later raced Chase Elliott who was leading with 30 laps to go really hard which allowed Hamlin to pass him and ultimately get the win.
Erik Jones – Erik Jones was strong last summer in the 20 at Homestead, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at his asterisk mark 21st place finish. In the race he made not one, but two unexpected pit stops. His first happened around lap 60 while he was running just short of the top ten and his second happened with 7 laps to go while he was running in 6th which cemented him to a poor result. If his race would’ve been incident free, he clearly would’ve finished in the top ten.
Kevin Harvick – Kevin Harvick didn’t have a smooth afternoon last year at Homestead and finished a misleading 26th. During the early caution for rain around lap 33 while he was running in the top five he got damage on pit road which led to a second pit stop which dropped him back to the high 30’s. Harvick later rebounded and reached the top ten again, but then in the final Stage he faded somewhat down the stretch. Then with 60 laps to go while he was running in the mid-teens he had a flat tire and got into the wall which led to an unexpected pit stop.
