Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Atlanta 2020
Matt DiBenedetto – Matt DiBenedetto was a DFS heart breaker last summer at Atlanta. In the race he started 21st, finished around the mid-teens in Stage #1, finished 7th in Stage #2 but then with 7 laps to go while he was running in 11th he made an unexpected pit stop for a tire problem which led to his asterisk mark 25th place finish.
Erik Jones – Erik Jones didn’t have an incident free race last summer at Atlanta and finished a misleading 28th. In the race he finished 8th in Stage #1, was running in 11th on lap 192 but then shortly before the end of Stage #2 during a late caution around lap 202 he had a long pit stop to try to fix a throttle hanging issue. Then on the final lap of that Stage he came to pit road because of a tire issue. Then to cap off his afternoon, Jones got a speeding penalty with 47 laps to go under green.
William Byron – William Byron likely had a solid car last summer at Atlanta, but he had problems extremely early and finished an asterisk mark 33rd. In the race, Byron started in 20th and was slowly moving up through the running order, but then during the restart following the lap 25 competition caution while he was running in 14th he had contact with the wall which led to an unexpected pit stop that dropped him 4 laps down which doomed his afternoon.
