Kyle Larson – Towards the end of Truck practice it was mentioned that Larson ran a really good lap time as the track was changing. In Cup practice, Larson was very quick and had the best 10 and 15 lap average. Near the end of practice he said, “Need better forward drive.”

Kevin Harvick – In Truck practice #1, Harvick was told by his team that he looked competitive. 30 minutes into that session he said, “The track is just changing so much.” 35 minutes into Truck practice he said, “I was on the verge of dreading this, but this is fun as s—.” In an interview following Truck practice he said, “That’s about as much fun in a race car as I’ve had in a long time.” In Cup practice he said he was sliding too much. His ten lap average that session was the 24th best.
Practice #1 Speeds and 10 Lap Averages
Martin Truex Jr. – 30 minutes into Truck practice he was asked what he needed, he said, “I don’t know, a better driver”, but he also did add he’s gotten into a rhythm. Late in Truck practice he spun. 20 minutes into Cup practice he spun, but didn’t hit anything. At that time he was 13th on the speed chart. In terms speeds midway through practice, the #19 was fast over the course of a run. At the end of practice his ten lap average was the 3rd best.
Alex Bowman – Alex Bowman looked very sporty early in practice and was the fastest driver early in practice. Clint Bowyer said his car was rotating well and he was driving in multiple lanes. After completing his opening 15 lap run he said, “I’m pretty tight.” In an interview he said, he was pretty happy with his car and things were going well so far. Felt like he was lacking over a long run. His 15 lap average was the 4th best. At the end of practice his ten lap average was the 2nd best.
