Asterisk Mark Report – Martinsville Fall 2020
Martin Truex Jr. – Nobody had a more misleading result than Martin Truex Jr. last fall at Martinsville and he finished 22nd. “Performance Wise”, Truex had one of the best cars and was a contender to win but while he was running in 2nd with about 40 laps to go he had a loose wheel which eventually led to him making an unexpected pit stop which led to his poor result. In the race, Truex finished 6th in Stage #1, 2nd in Stage #2 and led 129 laps.
Kevin Harvick – Kevin Harvick’s race last fall at Martinsville was far from incident free and for the majority of the race he was off the lead lap after making an unexpected pit stop after contact with Kenseth on lap 182. Then with about 100 laps to go, Harvick finally caught his lucky break caution and got back on the lead lap. From that point on he started to rally towards the front. Then on the final lap when he was in 10th he tried to spin out Kyle Busch, but ended up spinning out himself which led to his 17th place result.
