Fantasy NASCAR “Super Low Tier” – Charlotte Coca Cola 600
Justin Haley – At Charlotte, look for Justin Haley to once again be the top “Super Low Tier” driver. This year at low tire-wear 1.5 mile tracks the #77 has been the fastest car in the tier in terms of Total Speed Rankings. At Las Vegas he ranked #31, and at Kansas he ranked #32. In the results column at those venues his finishes are 29th (Las Vegas) and 30th (Kansas). In 2021 over the four combined races at 1.5 mile tracks, Haley’s finished between 26th to 30th and has a 28.75 average finish. At Charlotte in Cup, Haley has no starts under his belt. On Sunday, look for Haley to be a bout a 30th place driver.
James Davison – At Charlotte, look for James Davison to be a low thirties driver who might be able to finish marginally better. In 6 of his last 7 races heading into the weekend he’s finished between 29th to 33rd. Among drivers of this tier, that’s basically about as good as it gets. Davison hasn’t raced at a low-wear 1.5 mile track this year, but at Atlanta which is his most recent race at a track of this length he finished 32nd.
BJ McLeod – BJ McLeod has five starts under his belt at Charlotte and he’s 5 for 5 at finishing between 29th to 35th. On Sunday, I would look for him to finish around that range again. In 2020 at Charlotte, McLeod had results of 32nd and 35th. This year at the two low-wear venues visited, McLeod has results of 30th (Las Vegas) and 31st (Kansas).
Quin Houff – Quin Houff has raced in the last three Charlotte races and over the combined events his average finish is 31.6. This year at the two low-wear 1.5 mile tracks visited, Houff has results of 33rd (Las Vegas) and 37th (Kansas). On Sunday, look for Houff to be a low to mid 30’s driver.
Garrett Smithley – Garrett Smithley had clunker results of 33rd and 40th (Crashed) last year at Charlotte. This year at low-wear 1.5 mile tracks visited he has results of 31st (Las Vegas) and 33rd (Kansas).
Cody Ware – At Charlotte, look for Cody Ware to be a low to mid-thirties driver. This year at the two low-wear venues visited he has results of 32nd (Las Vegas) and 36th (Kansas).
David Starr – David Starr will be making his season debut in the Coca Cola 600 driving the #66 Ford. This is not Timmy Hill’s 2018 Toyota, even though its the same Motorsports Business Management team. That said, I’m keeping expectations basically just as low and I think a mid-thirties is in the cards unless attrition bumps him up.
Josh Bilicki – This year at low-wear 1.5 mile tracks among “Super Low Tier” performers racing, Josh Bilicki has fielded the slowest car on the track and his average Total Speed Ranking is 37.5! In the results column you’ll see that he finished 35th at Las Vegas and 39th at Kansas. Over the last five ovals visited this year, Bilicki has finished 33rd or worse and has a 35.8 average finish. At Charlotte, Bilicki has one start on his resume and last year in race #2 he finished 36th. On Sunday, look for Bilicki to be a mid-thirties driver who could get bumped up due to attrition.
