Nashville NASCAR Practice Notes
William Byron – Hendrick cars showed up with different setup directions this session. Byron worked on short runs. He was at the top of the speed chart early in practice. 30 minutes into practice it was reported that he liked a set of changes, but needs a little more help on exit. Byron was still at the top of the speed chart midway thru practice. About 40 minutes into practice he did a mock qualifying run that jumped him to the top of the speed chart. He ended the session #1. His ten lap average was the 5th best.
Practice #1 Speeds and 10 Lap Averages
Kyle Larson – Focused on long runs this session. Larson started the session with a 13 lap run. His car had good long run speed. 35 minutes into practice, Kyle Larson moved to the top of the speed chart. Late in the session, Larson had great speed over 5,10 and 15 laps.
Tyler Reddick – His car showed good speed early. About ten minutes into practice he had the best 10 lap average. Following his opening run he said, “It’s driving really, really nice.” At the end of the session his ten lap average was the 5th best.
Alex Bowman – Started the session with a short run. He reported that his car is a little too tight early in practice. 40 minutes into practice while he was 8th he said his car is definitely better, but still free. Late in practice he told his team his car is tight and didn’t have rotation.
Ricky Stenhouse Jr. – His car had good speed early and ten minutes into practice he was 2nd on the speed chart. Following his opening +10 lap run he reported that his front is a little tight, and a little free into turn 1. Late in practice he did a qualifying run that jumped him up to 4th. Stenhouse had the 7th best ten lap average.
