Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Pocono #1 & 2 2020
Pocono Race #1
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott had a fast car last summer in Pocono #1, but he finished an asterisk mark 25th. In the race, Elliott finished 5th in Stage #1 and 10th in Stage #2. Late in Stage #2, Elliott told his team he had transmission problems getting into 4th gear. Then during the Stage #2 caution his team had an uncontrolled tire and that penalty put him in the back of the field. Having transmission problems and no track position was a huge problem for him. Over the first two segments of the race prior to his transmission problems he had Total Speed Rankings of 5th and 6th.
Erik Jones – Erik Jones was solid last year in race #1, but he finished an asterisk mark 38th. In the race, Jones finished 10th in Stage #1 but then in Stage #2 on lap 72 while he was battling Tyler Reddick for 13th they crashed which marked the end of his race. In terms of Total Speed Rankings, Jones ranked as the 11th best.
Tyler Reddick – Tyler Reddick showed potential last year in race #1, but he finished a clunker 30th. His undoing happened on lap 72 when he crashed with Erik Jones while they were battling for 13th. In the first two segments prior to his problem he had Total Speed Rankings of 12th and 18th.
Joey Logano – Joey Logano had a great car last summer in race #1, but a late flat tire on lap 113 while running in 8th was his undoing and led to his 36th place finish. In the race, Logano won Stage #1, finished 2nd in Stage #2, had the 2nd best Total Speed Ranking and ranked in the top 4 in terms of speed across the four segments.
Alex Bowman – Alex Bowman is a driver who has a ton of bad luck at Pocono. Last year in Race #1, Bowman finished 9th in Stage #1, 6th in Stage #2, had the 7th best Total Speed Ranking but finished a clunker 27th. In the last Stage on lap 115 while he was running around the mid-teens, Bowman had a flat tire and had to make an unexpected pit stop which led to his poor result.
