Pocono Race Notes
Kurt Busch who started on the pole (Ryan Preece was the original pole winner but he started in the back) led the opening 35 laps. He started in the low-line.
Big: On lap 3 it was mentioned that Tyler Reddick lost his power steering. Reddick started in the rear of the field in a backup car. Reddick’s team attempted to repair the issue, but by lap 15 he was 5 laps down.
On lap 4 the first caution came out for rain. On lap 12 after running some laps under yellow, the green flag finally came out.

Big: On lap 15, Michael McDowell spun and got a lot of damage. This brought out a caution and marked the end of his race.
Notable: Corey LaJoie and Quin Houff got speeding penalties during the McDowell caution.

With 4 laps to go in Stage #1, green flag pit stops ensued in mass. Mostly drivers outside the top ten who wouldn’t get Stage points came in.

Big: On lap 39, Christopher Bell backed his car into the wall and got a ton of damage. Bell was running in the high-teens a lap earlier.
Mixed pit strategy took place at the time of the Bell caution.

Big: On lap 75, Kyle Busch crashed. He was showing top five speed, but pit strategy had him back in the running order at the time. He was racing Ryan Blaney at the time.
During the Busch caution, Hamlin said he had good speed and was fast in turn #2.
Notable: During the Kyle Busch caution, Alex Bowman got a pit penalty for “Equipment interference”. He interfered with Blaney’s pit stop. This dropped him from the top ten to the rear of the field.
During a post DNF interview, Kyle Busch said his car was pretty fast.
Big: Shortly after the restart following the Busch caution on lap 80, Ryan Preece crashed. He was back in 27th at the time.
