The Super Low Tier – Road America
James Davison – If you’re looking to pick a Super Low Tier driver, I think James Davison is likely the driver for you. The #15 is one of the best outright cars of this tier on a weekly basis, and James Davison knows his way around road courses. This year at road courses, Davison is 3 for 3 at finishing in the 20’s and his 25.7 average finish over the combined events is the best in the tier. This year his results are 23rd (Daytona RC), 25th (Sonoma) and 29th (COTA). At Road America, I think he has mid-twenties potential if things go well. (DraftKings $5,200 / FanDuel $2,500 )
Justin Haley – Justin Haley is back and ready for action at Road America. Among Super Low Tier drivers, I think he’s one of the best options. This is the best default Super Low Tier team on a weekly basis and in 5 of his last 7 races he’s finished between 27th to 30th. This year in the Cup series at road courses, Haley finished 24th at the Daytona Road Course and then at COTA he finished 40th after having “Steering” problems 12 laps into the race. (DraftKings $5,300 / FanDuel $2,500 )
Cody Ware – Cody Ware was shockingly good at Pocono and came home with results of 25th and 28th! Since Dover his average finish is 30.0. This year at road courses, Ware started off the year well with a 25th place finish at the Daytona Road Course. That said, his Total Speed Ranking was 35th and his average running position was 29.5. At the other two road courses visited this year he walked away with finishes of 32nd (COTA) and 34th (Sonoma). At Road America, I would look for Ware to be a low to mid-thirties driver who might be able to finish marginally better. (DraftKings $4,600 / FanDuel $2,800 )
Josh Bilicki – Josh Bilicki might prove to be one of the better Super Low Tier drivers at Road America. In the last two road course races this season he’s come home with results of 29th (Sonoma) and 30th (COTA) which are respectable for the tier. At the Daytona Road Course earlier this year he had a DNF due to “Brakes” and finished 36th. (DraftKings $4,900 / FanDuel $2,500 )
Kyle Tilley – Kyle Tilly is an unfamiliar name brought into race at Road America. He’ll be driving the #78 which is one of the better cars of the tier. Earlier this year at COTA, Tilley piloted this ride and came home 31st. That’s his only Cup start to date. At Sonoma a few weeks ago, Scott Heckart piloted this car and came home 26th. At Road America, I think he’s likely about a 30th place driver. (DraftKings $5,000 / FanDuel $2,500 )
Quin Houff – Quin Houff certainly isn’t a road course ringer. This year at road courses he’s been quite bad and is 3 for 3 at finishing 34th or worse. At COTA he finished 34th, at Sonoma he finished 36th and at the Daytona Road Course his engine blew up on lap 3 and he finished 40th. In 2020 at road courses he had results of 28th (Charlotte Roval) and 33rd (Daytona RC). At Road America, look for Houff to be a low to mid-thirties driver. (DraftKings $4,500 / FanDuel $2,800 )
Ryan Eversley – Ryan Eversley will be making his stock car debut at Road America driving the Rick Ware Racing #53. Eversley hails from a sports car background. Ware Racing has brought in other road course ringers in the past and they certainly haven’t done anything special. At Road America, I would look for him to finish anywhere from the high-twenties to mid-thirties. (DraftKings $4,700 / FanDuel $2,500 )
