Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Atlanta
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott was a top five contender earlier this year at Atlanta, but he finished an asterisk mark 38th. In the race, Elliott started in the rear of the field because of inspection issues, but had no trouble racing his way towards the front. On lap 39 he was up to 10th. When Stage #1 ended he was 8th. On lap 112 which was early in Stage #2, Elliott was up to 4th. Then a little later on lap 129 he was shown to have some nose damage and then he started to fall back in the running order. Then shortly after the restart for the final Stage, Elliott’s engine blew up and that marked the end of his race.
Kurt Busch – Kurt Busch was a top five contender earlier this year at Atlanta, but nobody had a shorter afternoon. In the race, Busch finished 4th in Stage #1, but then at the restart for Stage #2 he crashed which marked the end of his race leading to his last place finish (39th). Busch competed in two segments of the race and his Total Speed Ranking in both of those quarters was 6th.
Brad Keselowski – Brad Keselowski has been elite at Atlanta and in 3 of the last 5 races he’s finished in the top 2. Earlier this year at Atlanta, Keselowski likely had a good car but he walked away with an asterisk mark 28th place finish. In the race, Keselowski finished outside the top ten in Stage # 1, and then early in Stage #2 on lap 124 while he was just outside the top ten he ran into the back of Martin Truex Jr. and got a good amount of nose damage. He then nose dived in the running order and then eventually made an unexpected pit stop for repair.
