Aric Almirola who started on the pole choose to start in the outside row. He led the opening 2 laps.
On lap 3, Brad Keselowski who started in 4th jumped to the lead. Keselowski then led the next 55 laps.
On lap 3, Kurt Busch got way out of the groove and fell back. This dropped him from 8th to 17th in one corner. He said his car was very loose in the PJ1 (traction substance).

Big: On lap 16 while running in 6th, Kyle Busch got into the wall hard which marked the end of his race. This brought out the first caution. Busch had a flat tire.
During the Busch caution, pit strategy was spilt, but many of the front runners didn’t pit.
Big: While running in 9th during the Busch caution, Erik Jones came to pit road and his team pitted outside the pit box. This resulted in him being held for 1 lap.

On lap 28, William Byron got out of the groove and fell back a handful of positions. He was running around 10th at the time.
On lap 30, the competition caution came out.

Around lap 165 in Stage #2, Kevin Harvick came to pit road for fuel. He was running in the top ten and it dropped him a lap down to 29th. A caution came out a few laps later which helped him to bounce back.
