1) Denny Hamlin – Without question, Denny Hamlin is the premiere performer at Daytona, and he needs this win BAD! Hamlin dominated this years Daytona 500 (5th, led 98 laps), was the leader at the start of over-time last summer (3rd) and then of course raced his way to victory lane in last years 500. Overall, Hamlin has finished in the top 5 in 4 of the last 5 races at superspeedways.
2) William Byron – William Byron is the defending Daytona summer winner, and in summer 2019 he finished 2nd. Byron’s also won a Duel race here and has had some other great runs that were spoiled by problems. At Talladega this spring he finished 2nd, last fall he finished 4th there.
3) Joey Logano – Joey Logano is a stellar superspeedway performer, and I would put him neck and neck with Hamlin in terms of pure talent on this track type. In this years 500, Logano nearly raced his way to victory lane, but was wrecked. Last summer at Daytona, Logano won Stage # 1, won Stage #2, led a race high 36 laps and was running in 2nd with 4 laps to go right before he was swept up in a “Big One” after he just made a pass for the lead.
