Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Las Vegas #1 2021
Alex Bowman – Alex Bowman was easily a top ten contender earlier this year at Las Vegas, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at his 28th place finish. In the race, Bowman finished 5th in Stage #1, 6th in Stage #2 but made a late unexpected pit stop on lap 251 for a flat tire while running in 9th. As he was coming into pit road, Bowman also got a commitment cone violation to add insult to injury.
Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott finished 13th this spring at Las Vegas, but make no mistake he had one of the best cars. In the race, Elliott started 8th, but then during the competition caution on lap 25 while leading he had a slow pit stop and was then shown to have damage to his jack post side skirt area. When Stage #1 ended he finished 2nd. During the Stage #1 caution his team had an extended pit stop to repair damage and that dropped him back to 28th. When Stage #2 ended, Elliott rallied to finish 10th. Then early in the final Stage while he was running in 11th on lap 169 he spun and that dropped him back to 27th. All of those problems make his 13th look respectable.
Aric Almirola – Earlier this year at Las Vegas, Aric Almirola ran as high as the mid-teens, but when the race reached its conclusion he finished 38th. “Performance Wise” though, I think he was really a mid 20’s performer. On lap 178, his race came to a swift ending when he got into the wall hard. At the time of his demise he was running around the mid to high-twenties.
