The Super Low Tier – Las Vegas
Justin Haley – At Las Vegas, look for Justin Haley to be about a 25th to 30th place driver, but to be safe lean more towards the higher end of that range. This year at high-speed intermediate tracks, he’s 7 for 7 at finishing between 25th to 30th and his average finish is 28.1. This spring at Las Vegas, Haley was the highest finisher of this tier, and when the checkered flag waved he finished 29th and had a 28.6 average running position.
BJ McLeod – Although he’s no longer BJ “No Crash DNF” McLeod, the fact remains that he doesn’t crash very often which is definitely a plus. This spring at Las Vegas, McLeod finished 30th and had a 30.4 average running position. Among drivers of this tier, that result ranks as the second best from this spring at Las Vegas. Over the last four races held at high-speed intermediate tracks, McLeod is 4 for 4 at finishing between 28th to 31st and his average finish is 30th. On Sunday, look for McLeod to finish right around 30th.
JJ Yeley – JJ Yeley got back on track at Bristol and now in 2021 in Rick Ware equipment, he’s finished in the 20’s in 6 of the 7 races (between 25th to 29th). Given his equipment, that’s the equivalent of top fives. Of the tracks he’s competed at this year, none of them really have much correlation to Las Vegas. On Sunday, I’m going to view him as a low-thirties driver who might have some upside.
Cody Ware – We haven’t seen Cody Ware for a few weeks, so hopefully he won’t have any pent up aggression. Earlier this year at Las Vegas, Ware finished 32nd and had a 33.2 average running position. This year at high-speed intermediate tracks minus Kansas, Ware has finished between 27th to 33rd every race and has a 30.8 average finish.
Garrett Smithley – At Las Vegas, Garrett Smithley is 3 for 3 at finishing between 31st to 35th. This spring, Smithley finished 31st and had a 31.9 average running position. In his two prior starts he had a pair of 35th’s. This year over the six races he’s competed in at high-speed intermediate tracks, he’s 6 for 6 at finishing between 31st to 34th.
Josh Bilicki – At Las Vegas, look for Josh Bilicki to be a low to mid 30’s performer. This year at high-speed intermediate tracks, he’s finished in the 30’s every race and has a 34.8 average finish. At Michigan, the most recent similar track visited he had his best result and finished 31st. In all the other races he finished 33rd or worse. This spring at Las Vegas, Bilicki finished 35th and had a 35.8 average running position.
Quin Houff – Quin Houff has competed in the last three races at Las Vegas and he’s 3 for 3 at finishing between 32nd to 34th. Earlier this year, Houff finished 33rd and had a 34.2 average running position. In 2020 his results were 32nd and 34th. At Michigan, the most recent high-speed intermediate track visited this year he finished 30th. In the other six races he’s finished between 32nd to 37th. On Sunday night, he’s clearly a low to mid 30’s driver.
Joey Gase – At Las Vegas, look for Joey Gase to have a rough afternoon. This year at high-speed intermediate tracks in the races he’s competed, he’s 4 for 4 at finishing between 34th to 37th. At Las Vegas this spring, Gase finished 34th and had a 35.4 average running position.
