Fantasy NASCAR Asterisk Mark Report – Talladega
Denny Hamlin – Denny Hamlin had a great car this spring at Talladega, and I would argue his car was subjectively the best but he finished an asterisk mark 32nd. In the race, Hamlin led a race high 43 laps, finished 4th in Stage #1 and was the leader shortly before “Manufacturer pit stops” in Stage #2 where his downfall began. Around lap 92 when he came to pit road, Hamlin was caught speeding. Then when he was serving his penalty, Hamlin was caught speeding again. Then on the last lap of Stage #2, Denny Hamlin crashed which marked the end of his race.
Kyle Larson – How good was Kyle Larson this spring at Talladega? Nobody knows because he never even got up to speed! Larson had a packing piece in front of his radiator which wasn’t removed pre-race and it cooked his engine leading to his 40th place finish.
Joey Logano – Joey Logano had a great car this spring at Talladega, but he finished an asterisk mark 39th. In the race, Logano led 10 laps, consistently ran among the front runners and at the time of his demise during the last lap of Stage #1 he was running in 3rd.
