Tier #1 Super Elite

1) Chase Elliott – Chase Elliott has back to back wins at the Charlotte Roval, and in both of them he had to overcome adversity in the final Stage (Crash and unexpected pit stop). At road courses, Elliott is a 7-time winner and since Watkins Glen in 2019 minus this years race at the Daytona Road Course (best car, robbed by a “rain caution”), Elliott has a 1.5 average finish and he’s only finished outside the top 2 once, and that result was a 4th!

2) Kyle Larson – Kyle Larson has been super-elite at road courses this year. He’s won twice, but a strong case could be made that he should have 5 wins on this track type! In terms of Road Course Track Type Total Speed Rankings, Larson ranks #1. In 2018 at the Roval, Larson earned the best driver rating, led 47 laps, was the fastest driver late in a run but he crashed in the late “Big One” while running in 2nd.

3) Martin Truex Jr. – Martin Truex Jr. has been strong at the Charlotte Roval. He was a turn away from winning in 2018, and in the last two races he’s finished 7th. This year at road courses, Truex has the 4th best Track Type Total Speed Ranking.
